Named after its location as the highest point along the Chatham Railroad, which extends from Virginia to Florida, Apex is a town located in Wake County, NC that is a suburb of Raleigh. Neighboring towns of Apex are Cary (north), Holly Springs (south), and Raleigh (east).
As a result of its location near North Carolina’s Research Triangle, the town’s population quadrupled in the 1990s to over 20,000. Despite such growth, Apex managed to preserve its small-town character.
